Masters Team

The Team Specialized Masters program was formed twenty years ago. At that time Thomas Weisel and Steve Johnson united to create a dominant masters team with a focus on winning races at the national and world level. This commitment to excellence has continued since the inception of the team and is exemplified by the performance of the team on the bike as well as in the team's active participation in the continued growth of the sport. Thom and Steve went on to found the USA Cycling Development Foundation. Today Thom is Chairman of the USA Cycling Development Foundation and Steve is the CEO of USA Cycling. The program continues to advance youth cycling competition as well as win races.

The team consists of former professional and olympic riders along with top age graded riders. Over the last twenty years the team has won numerous Masters State, National and World Championships. Along the way, team members have also taken the lead in mentoring programs for new riders at the yearly Early Bird Criterium series.

With the addition of the Specialized Junior Development Program the team has now started mentoring these young riders as they mature into elite level cyclists.
